Pizza became a favourite dish in Italy. But it was after the Second World War, when thousands of American soldiers went home from Europe, that pizza really became an international dish. They were soon pizzerias all over the United States and American chains like Pizza Hut spread the idea around the world. Today, the average American eats about ten kilograms of pizza during a year. And something interesting: the world's largest pizza (thirty metres across) was not backed in Italy, but in Cuba.

Pizza has usually a round form and it is cocked for near 3 minutes in the oven. Ingredients of pizza Margarita are mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, olive oil and basil. Pizza may also have more ingredients, like salami, ham, pepper, olive, mushroom, onion or anchovy.

The best is eating it hot, but it can also be eaten cold, in a picnic for example.

Since many years pizza is also sold as a frozen dish. Technology has done a good work and people can enjoy really delicious frozen pizzas nowadays.

A very important property of this dish is that it can be easily adapted to each country. There are very different receipts of pizza depending of the place in the world. Maybe its simplicity and adaptability are the secret of its success.
